Problem/Solution Essay
Task: Pose a problem and a solution to it as it relates to a theme in Friendswood.

My topic: careless damage to the environment harms human health and well-being

Questions to consider:
1.) How do environmental factors affect human health?
2.) How can an oil spill/chemical dumpings affect people in real life?
3.) What is the biggest contributor to environmental damage?
4.) How can an individual best protect himself from harmful environmental factors?
5.) How can an individual protect the environment from further damage?
6.) What environment is the healthiest for human well-being?
7.) Why should the government care about protecting the environment?
8.) Why was Lee the only person to protest building homes on toxic soil?
9.) Why did the Environmental Protection Agency allow Avery Taft to start building homes on toxic soil?
10.) How can an individual successfully protest environmental damage? Should he follow Lee's example? Did Lee do the right things?

Working thesis: Damage to the environment is a problem because it harms human health, therefore people must strive to protect the well-being of the environment to protect the well-being of themselves.
